First of all, please share with us your feelings at today's IEIC scene?
Adam Flower:
It looks a very successful event. There are a number of schools represented. I've never seen so many people who seem to be interested in bilingual education. So I'm sure the event will be a fantastic success.
When parents plan for their children's international education, what kind of school age stage do you think is the most suitable?
Adam Flower:
I would say that because the schools in Shanghai China are so well developed the bilingual school system, it's not necessary for parents to necessarily move their children out of China, out of schools until the age of 18. At the age of 18, the students will be responsible to choose which to have a university or which have a country they wish to study in at higher education.
In Shanghai, there are a number of excellent bilingual schools, there are also a lot of resources to support students development to help them make the transition to universities both in the United States and in the United Kingdom.
What abilities do you think students who wants to enter a British private school should have?
Adam Flower:
British schools expect students to be an independent thinkers to think critically to come to their own decisions and to formulate their own ideas, given that the resources and skills are available to them, that's quite important.
Which ones need to be prepared in advance and which one need to be cultivated after entering school?
Adam Flower:
Students need to be given a stage in which they can speak or perform. Also they need to be able to Excel on the sporting field and in music. Once they move to the UK they will certainly improve their language skills, they will get to work with students from a number of countries all over the world will be in English. So they will become a lot more internationally minded once they enter the British schools themselves.
